Maratoto 4x4 trails open for 08/09 summer

The Loop trail off the main trail has a high difficulty rating and should not be attempted without suitable equipment. Panel damage to vehicles is likely and winching is often needed. There is no cellphone coverage. Please keep the gate on the southern end of the Loop (the exit) pulled closed to discourage casual use by ill-equipped vehicles.
Some areas of the main trail are soft and will require care in driving to avoid causing damage to the trail. (The 4WD community maintain the trail at our expense!) If damage is seen, please contact access@nzfwda.org.nz
To help offset maintenance costs, a $10 donation is requested per vehicle and there is a yellow box on the corner of Wires and Maratoto roads.
